Metro Consulting Group is a small Florida business comprised of Planners, Engineers, Environmental Scientists and Landscape Architects. Formed in 2010, they reached out to me to help them create an identity.
The objective was to try to capture their diversified fields into one graphic. Mainly this consisted of planners, engineers and scientists with a lean to the green. This of course led to several rounds of brainstorming and ideation before even coming up with an initial round of comps. Below are some of the main comps that were presented but not chosen. I’ve cleaned them up a bit more for the sake of this website.

I decided I would dig into my archives and pull out all some of the steps it took to get this logo together. Some things, like marketplace and competitive research have been excluded. But otherwise, it’s a pretty comprehensive look as to how I build out a logo.
